Four station commanders of the Manila Police District (MPD) have been relieved of their posts under Mayor Joseph Estrada’s “one-strike policy.”
“They did not perform well. Their men are still [extorting money], especially [from] vendors,” Estrada told the Inquirer on Wednesday.
“They should be responsible for the men under their command. We’re implementing a one-strike policy to show that we mean business and we have political will,” he said. “Their [men] will also be relieved,” he added.
Sacked from their posts were Supt. Ricardo Layug of MPD Station 3 (Sta. Cruz), Supt. Orlando Mirando of Station 5 (Ermita), Supt. Amante Daro of Station 8 (Sta. Mesa) and Supt. Wilson Doromal of Station 11 (Mesic).
The transmittal order for the four officials’ relief was recommended by the MPD’s Seniors Placement Board which came out with a performance evaluation rating report.
The station commanders would be replaced by Supt. Aldrine Gran (Station 3), Supt. Albert Barot (Station 5), Supt. Fernando Opelanio (Station 8) and Supt. Raymundo Liguden (Station 11).
