MANILA, Philippine – The Senate unanimously ratified on Wednesday the proposed P2.264-trillion national budget for 2014.

No member of the Senate objected when Senator Francis “Chiz” Escudero, chairman of the Senate committee on finance, moved to approve and ratify on the floor the proposed national budget.

“…we submit your honor and we ask that the body ratify the bicameral conference committee report,” Escudero said.

Senate President Franklin Drilon, who was presiding over the session, then asked the body if there was any objection to Escudero’s motion.

“No objections, Mr. President,” said neophyte Senator Bam Aquino acting as the Majority Floor Leader.

“There being no objection, the bicameral conference committee report on the disagreeing votes  of the house on House Bill 2630 as submitted  to the chamber is hereby approved and ratified,” Drilon said.

The approved budget was P3.2-billion lower than the original P2.268 trillion proposal of Malacañang.

After the ratification by both the Senate and the House of Representatives, the budget bill will then now be transmitted to President Aquino for signature.
