MANILA, Philippines—The father of a nine-year old girl who was shot by a still-at-large motorist turned to social media to help identify the perpetrator.
A Facebook post of the victim’s father made public by his friend went viral as he detailed the incident. He posted snapshots of the gunman’s vehicle from a short-circuit television camera (CCTV).
In an interview with Inquirer Radio 990AM news anchors, the victim’s father recounted the incident.
He said the road-rage happened on December 6 around 4:00 a.m. along a narrow road on M.H. Del Pilar Street in Bungad village, Quezon City.
According to him, he and his wife were on their way to drop off their children at school for a field trip.
“I came across this White Hyundai SUV with its very bright headlight directly blinding me. So when the driver of the said SUV and I met side by side, I brought my window down and he also did. I asked him politely and said, “Could you please dim your headlights.” But the driver allegedly replied arrogantly, “Eh ano ngayon?! (So what?!).”
The father said he managed to keep his cool but he was not able to stop himself from commenting, “Brod, ang yabang mo naman (Brother, you are so arrogant).” The driver of the SUV replied, “Ang yabang mo rin (You too are arrogant).”
The victim’s father slowly drove forward looking on the side view mirror to try to see the motorist’s plate number.
“Then we heard gunshots. My wife told me to move away fearing there would be more. A few seconds later, my youngest daughter shouted, Aray! (Ouch) then our eldest told us there was blood from her sister” he said.
They immediately rushed to the nearest hospital.
According to him, doctors told him that her daughter suffered a gunshot wound to the kidney and liver. The girl received blood transfusion during the operation.
The father said her daughter is recovering.
Police have launched an investigation into the incident.
The CCTV did not catch the license plate number of the SUV.
The father now is hoping that authorities would step up the investigation.
He also urged the netizens to help them find the gunman. He can be contacted through his mobile number 0928-113-1893.
