MANILA, Philippines – A video of the meeting between Local Government Secretary Manuel ‘‘Mar’’ Roxas and Tacloban City Mayor Alfred Romualdez in the aftermath of Supertypphoon ‘Yolanda’’ (international name Haiyan) has been circulating in socia media.
The video, which runs for almost 43 minutes, has been posted Tuesday at the You Tube account of a certain ‘‘Cito Beltran’’ at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PRAiyHX3WCI .
It looked every bit like a longer version of a video apparently of the same meeting which has been posted earlier and which has gone viral. The earlier video runs for only 18 seconds.
The longer video surfaced a day after Romualdez appeared at a hearing Monday of a Congressional committee in the Senate on disaster preparedness and response. In that hearing, Romualdez lamented the slow rescue efforts in Tacloban City which he said could have saved some of the victims.
Roxas debunked the allegations made by Romualdez during a press conference held on Tuesday. He also urged the mayor not to twist the facts in the government’s rescue and relief efforts in Tacloban City and in other parts of Eastern Visayas devastated by Yolanda.
