MANILA, Philippines — A 4.5 magnitude earthquake hit Sorsogon at 9:31 p.m. Monday, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said in a bulletin.
There were no reports of damage or casualty from the tectonic quake, which had a depth of 112 kilometers. No aftershocks were expected.
Intensity III was felt in Matnog town while intensity II was felt in Cabid-an in Sorsogon City and Legaspi City in Albay.
The Philippines sits on the Pacific “Ring of Fire” where continental plates collide causing frequent seismic and volcanic activity.
