MANILA, Philippines – Twenty two civilian informants received over P12 million cash rewards from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency for providing information that led to the successful arrest of several high-value drug personalities.

PDEA Director General Undersecretary Arturo Cacdac Jr. said the informants—identified through their codenames as Segul, Silup, Sparta, Clyde, Macmac, Dong, Dazzler, Peter So, Brent, Miami, Jabar, Panzer, Jhong, Balik Loob, Melanie, Alien, Tiger, Repa, Storm, Cold Ice, Goku and Anaconda—received their rewards this Monday at the PDEA National Headquarters in Quezon City under its Operation Private Eye or OPE.

OPE, Cacdac said, is a reward and incentive scheme of PDEA designed to encourage private citizens to report any suspected illegal drug activities in their community.

Among the informants, “Goku” and “Anaconda” received the biggest reward worth P2 million each.

“Goku” provided information that led to the arrest of six drug personalities and the seizure of over 400 kilograms of methamphetamine hydrochloride or shabu in an operation in Zambales last August, while “Anaconda” provided information that resulted in the seizure of over 60 kilograms of shabu, and the arrest of three drug personalities  in Tondo, Manila last September.

Cacdac said OPE aims to establish trust and confidence, and maintains a mutually beneficial relationship between PDEA and the public to ensure the success of its illegal drug operations.

All information being received through Operation Private Eye, he said, is being handled with utmost secrecy.
