THE GILAS Pilipinas Cadet team begin their quest for SEA Games gold today when they tangle with rivals Singapore in Naypyidaw, Myanmar.

Bannered by the who’s-who of amateur basketball and powered by naturalized player Marcus Douthit, the Gilas are expected to steamroll over the competition and maintain the country’s stature as the best hoops team in the region.

Aside from Douthit, making the team up are Gilas cadets Kevin Alas, Jake Pascual, Ronald Pascual, Garvo Lanete, and Matt Ganuelas, and collegiate standouts Bobby Ray Parks, Kiefer Ravena, Kevin Ferrer, Jericho Cruz, Prince Caperal, and Mark Belo.

After Singapore, the Gilas battles Cambodia tomorrow before facing off against Myanmar, Thailand, Indonesia and Malaysia later in the week. /Correspondent Jonas Panerio
