Man killed after being shot at point-blank range

/ 02:45 AM December 09, 2013

A man was killed by a motorcycle-riding gunman in a Quezon City neighborhood Sunday morning.

Elmer Agunia, 44, of Luzon Avenue in Barangay (village) Old Balara, died instantly after he was shot in the face. Case investigator SPO1 Pascual Fabreag said the shooting happened at 10 a.m. as the victim was walking at Area 4, Purok 4 in Barangay Culiat.

A motorcycle-riding man wearing a helmet drove by and shot him before speeding away. Police investigators who went to the crime scene did not find the body there as it was taken by his relatives to a funeral home.

Instead, they found a shell from a .45-cal. firearm. Fabreag said they were still investigating the motive for the shooting.—Julie M. Aurelio
