There were a total of 38,876 reported dengue cases in the country from January 1 to July 23 this year, or around 26 percent lower than the 52,428 cases reported in the same period in 2010. Of the total figure this year, 23.74 percent, or 9,229 cases, were from the National Capital Region, the highest among the country’s regions in the said period.—Schatzi Quodala, Inquirer Research
