MANILA, Philippines – The Senate on Wednesday approved on third and final reading the proposed P14.6-billion supplemental budget this year for calamity funds.

Fifteen senators voted to approve the proposed measure with no objection and abstention.

The supplemental budget would be sourced from this year’s unspent Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF) known as “pork barrel” funds of lawmakers, which was recently declared as “unconstitutional” by the Supreme Court.

A similar measure was also approved by the House of Representatives Tuesday night.
