Enrile unfazed by Santiago privilege speech

MANILA, Philippines – Is it my fault that I am good-looking?

This was the question asked in Filipino by Senate Minority Leader Juan Ponce Enrile when asked to comment on Senator Miriam Defensor-Santiago’s reported plan to bring up his lovelife in her privilege speech this Wednesday.

Asked if he would look at Santiago’s eyes when she delivers her speech, Enrile said: “Hindi naman. Hindi ba sinabi ko, hindi ako naasiman”. [Not really. Didn’t I say already that she doesn’t have it anymore?]

Enrile was also unfazed by Santiago’s reported plan to also bring up Enrile’s sins during Martial Law.

“Ok lang yan, matagal na yung martial law. Nakaukit na sa kasaysayan.” [That’s ok. Martial Law is long in the past. It’s been etched in history.]

Enrile said he would welcome anything Santiago would raise against him and reiterated his previous statement that he would not retaliate.

He reiterated, however, that he would only answer the “pork barrel” fund issue at a proper venue.

“It’s now before the Ombudsman and I’m preparing my counter affidavit,” Enrile said.
