FEATURED STORIES

THE INVIGORATED Barangay Ginebra Kings aim to grab the lead in the standings today when they battle the Meralco Bolts in the 2013 PBA Philippine Cup over at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.

Bolstered by a towering frontcourt led by this year’s top draft pick, the 7-foot Cebuano Greg Slaughter, and their athletic backcourt bannered by 2012 MVP Mark Caguioa and crafty court general LA Tenorio, the Kings have remained unbeaten in three games and are currently tied for the lead in the standings with the idle Petron Blaze Boosters.

The Kings take aim at the outright lead today against the Meralco Bolts, who just recently broke out of their slump with a 112-79 massacre of the hapless Air21 Express. Game time is set at 8 p.m.

Challenged by the current crop of young guns led by GlobalPort’s Terrence Romeo, Caguioa showed that he still had plenty left in the tank as he scored 14 of his 29 points in the final quarter to beat the former and help the Kings come away with a 109-104 victory.

In the curtain-raiser, a familiar face suits up for a new team as Danny Seigle makes his debut for the reigning champions Talk ’N Text Tropang Texters (2-1) when they face off against GlobalPort (1-2) at 5:45 p.m.
