/ 04:20 AM December 03, 2013

A pensioner lost over P700,000 worth of valuables after thieves broke into her house in Mandaluyong City over the weekend.

The Mandaluyong police identified the victim as Cecilia Roque Javines, a 75-year-old former employee of Unilever Philippines. Police reports showed that Javines and her niece discovered the robbery at 6 p.m. on Saturday, after both left the house unattended for several hours.

Several gold and diamond earrings, necklaces and rings, together with other expensive wristwatches placed inside a cabinet in Javines’ room were stolen in addition to a brand-new tablet worth P24,000.

Police investigators reported that the suspects probably broke into the house by smashing the glass windows in Javines’ bedroom on the second floor of the house. The police are still trying to identify the robbery suspects.—Nathaniel R. Melican
