2 men nabbed for stealing fighting cocks

Two young men were arrested after stealing fighting cocks and trying to sell one of them in Malabon City on Sunday afternoon.

The Malabon police identified the suspects as 20-year-old Michael Acebuche of Damson Street, Barangay (village) Dampalit, Malabon City, and a 16-year-old out-of-school youth. The two were accused of taking two fighting cocks from Melchor Paglinawan’s home on Gen. Trias Street in Barangay Hulong Duhat.

Police reports showed that Paglinawan discovered the theft on Sunday morning. He found one of the cocks not far from his house and later in the day, he caught the two men as they were trying to sell the other cock at Hulong Duhat Plaza.

The victim called the attention of barangay watchmen who took the two suspects to a nearby police station.—Nathaniel R. Melican
