MANILA, Philippines–The state weather forecast center reported that tropical storm Bebeng is expected to exit the Philippines on Thursday and reach Aparri, Cagayan, on Tuesday, a Radyo Inquirer report on Monday stated.
The report quoted the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) as saying that Bebeng (international name: Aere) is expected to exit the Philippine area of responsibility on Thursday but would still cause rainfalls over Luzon.
As of 10 a.m. on Monday, Bebeng was spotted at 60 kilometers south southeast of Tuguegarao, or approximately 55 kilometers northwest of Casiguran, Aurora, with maximum sustained winds of 75 km per hour near the center.
Bebeng, which intensified from a low pressure area to tropical storm at 5 a.m. of May 7, was recorded moving northwest at 15 km per hour on Monday.
The Pagasa still raised storm signal No. 2 on Aurora, Isabela, Quirino, Nueva Vizcaya, Mt. Province, Kalinga and Cagayan.
Public storm signal No. 1 is still hoisted over Northern Quezon, Polillo Island, Nueva Ecija, Benguet, Ilocos Sur, Abra, Ilocos Norte, Apayao, Babuyan and Calayan group of Islands.
The Bicol region, which took the brunt of Bebeng on Sunday will continue experience rains.
Hot weather is likely on Wednesday, according to Pagasa forecaster Rene Pasyente.—Carissa Caraig
