A KOREAN woman is  recuperating in a hospital following an assault by one of two motorcycle-riding robbers in the  North Reclamation Area in barangay Subangdaku, Mandaue City, last Sunday evening.

Hong Joo Yeon, a 22-year-old student, who has the English name “Chloe,” was bludgeoned in the head with  a handgun by one of the robbers.

Two Filipinos and three Korean students who saw the holdup  helped the young woman get up.  She was brought to the Mandaue District Hospital and was later  transferred to a private hospital in Cebu City.

The holduppers fled with her  brown bag containing  P500  cash, a  cell phone, a  book and one Korean credit card.

SPO2 Marcos Noval of the Investigation and Detection Management Branch (IDMB) in Mandaue City Police Office (MCPO) said Hong described one of the robbers as chubby, with short hair and clad in a green T-shirt.

The backrider was thin with long hair.

The robbers  weren’t wearing any crash helmet.

Noval said they found it difficult to talk to the Korean victim because she couldn’t speak English fluently.
