MANILA, Philippines—The tail-end of a cold front affecting Luzon has moved slightly downward, bringing rain showers and thunderstorms to the island’s southern parts, the state weather bureau said on Saturday.

Gray clouds will prevail over the Bicol region, Quezon, Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon and Palawan due to the cold front, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said in its 24-hour weather outlook.

The affected provinces will likely experience light to moderate rains and thunderstorms on the first day of December.

On the other hand, Metro Manila and the regions of Ilocos, Cordillera, Cagayan Valley and Central Luzon will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with light rains, Pagasa said.

The rest of the country will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms, it added.

One or two more tropical cyclones may enter the country this December, Pagasa said.

The local names have run through the entire alphabet, except “X,” and the next one will go back to “A,” and bear the name “Alamid.”

Moderate to strong winds blowing from the northeast will prevail over Luzon and Visayas and the coastal waters along these areas will be moderate to rough, Pagasa said. Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate coming from the northeast with slight to moderate seas, it said.
