Cops seize P182 M in shabu from Chinese man
CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Philippines—The police in Pampanga seized 36.5 kilograms of “shabu” or metamphetamine hydrochloride which they estimated to be worth P182 million from a Chinese who lived and conducted his trade in an upscale village in nearby Mexico town.
Superintendent Raymund Louie Baloyo, head of the provincial task force against illegal drugs, said around 16.5 kilos of shabu were hidden in a suitcase while 20 more kilos were stored in a box inside a house in the Lakeshore residential area.
Ding Wenkun, 30, was arrested together with his aide, Roel Cabag, during a police buy-bust operation past 5 p.m. Friday.
The suspect, from Jiangxi province, entered the Philippines last October 29, police said.
Both Ding and Cabag, were being held at the Pampanga police camp in this provincial capital while charges were being prepared against them, said Senior Superintendent Oscar Albayalde, provincial police director.
“The intensified campaign against illegal drugs in Pampanga is upon the guidance of Chief Superintendent Raul Petrasanta,” Albayalde said.
