Traffic advisory: Skyway starts yearend road rehab

/ 02:47 AM November 30, 2013

After completing the four-month rehabilitation of the Skyway System’s 4.7-km at-grade section between Sales Bridge and Bicutan Interchange, Skyway O&M Corp. (Somco) last week started the repair of the 2.9-km toll road stretch between Tesda and Raya Gardens on the elevated section.

Somco’s road rehabilitation involves rotomilling the road surface, followed by an asphalt overlay which is being done one lane at a time, on both southbound and northbound lanes.

To keep the traffic moving, two lanes remain open to motorists at any given time. As much as possible, road work is done from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following day to avoid any buildup.

Somco will undertake similar road works in other areas, including the 800-meter pavement in front of Skyway Toll Operation Building on Doña Soledad Avenue up to Bicutan Interchange, and the 500-meter Filinvest Manila-bound bridge-ramp.

Motorists going to the Makati-Manila area in the early morning may experience a slowdown, but Somco traffic personnel will be on hand to assist them and manage traffic flow.

All repair works are expected to be finished by Dec. 15.
