A group of prominent art collectors is auctioning off treasured pieces to raise money for victims of Supertyphoon “Yolanda” in the Visayas. The fund-raising project dubbed “Art is Hope” is organized by volunteers from Finale Art File and YamangKatutubo.
A work by National Artist Arturo Luz and other pieces by established artists like Charlie Co and Rodel Tapaya are among the 40 items that will be put on the block.
The artworks may now be viewed from 10 a.m to 7 pm. at Finale Art File at La Fuerza Compund, Chino Roces Avenue, Makati City. The live auction will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 30. Silent bids can be submitted before the sale.
Proceeds will be donated in full to the relief drive of the University of Cebu and to the shelter projects of Ramon Aboitiz Foundation Inc.
In Manila, “Juan HeART, 1 Nation,” a benefit art exhibit also for Yolanda victims, will open Nov. 29 at Olives Bar on Adriatico Street.
The one-man show features the works of artist Kenneth John Montegrande, who is also a publicist and spokesperson for the National Parks Development Committee, the agency in charge of maintaining Rizal Park, Paco Park and Pook ni Mariang Makiling.
“This is my contribution to help them rebuild their lives and overcome a very tough test,” Montegrande said. “We all have a responsibility to our country and fellowmen. Through a talent given by God, I can pay it back by offering the proceeds of this show to those who badly need help.”
After “Juan HeART,” Montegrande will have another one-man show at the lobby of City State Tower Hotel in Ermita, Manila, on Jan. 15, 2014. Also an exhibit for a cause, the show is sponsored by D. Edgard Cabangon.
