MANILA, Philippines—A joint resolution, extending until December 31, 2014 the validity of appropriations under this year’s calamity fund for rehabilitation efforts in areas hit by recent calamities, was adopted by the Senate committee on finance on Thursday.
Senate Joint Resolution 5 filed by Senate President Franklin Drilon also covered those funds sourced from savings realigned this year and all unreleased appropriations for calamity-related projects.
“It is imperative for the government to implement aggressive and continuous relief, rehabilitation and reconstruction efforts in the affected areas to enable our people and communities to recover from the damage caused by the said calamities,” the resolution said.
The resolution adopted by the committee will now be transmitted to the plenary for deliberations.
