SRP Midnight Run moved to March 2

/ 09:48 AM November 28, 2013

THE Cebu City SRP Midnight Marathon which was originally scheduled to unfold this Sunday, was moved to March 2, 2014, according to officials of the organizing G Concepts Events.

The running event, which is supposed to be the opening salvo of the annual “Kasadya Sa South Road Properties (SRP)” was moved to next year due to the mounting public clamor to postpone the race to give way to relief efforts in northern Cebu and Eastern Visayas which were badly battered by supertyphoon Yolanda which has already claimed more than 5,000 lives.

According to race director Joel Juarez, registration is still ongoing at the RUNNR Ayala Center Cebu and at the Cebu City Sports Commission office inside the Cebu City Sports Center (CCSC).

Race organizers are expecting to draw in 2,000 runners who will test their running skills in the 42-kilometer full marathon, 21k half marathon and 5k fun run.

The event’s proceeds will be given to Operation Second Chance Foundation and the Vicente Sotto Psychiatric ward.

A total of P200,000 in cash are up for grabs in the race that will traverse Cebu City’s major streets. Registration fee is pegged at P1,200 for the 42k, P700 for the 21k and P350 for the 5k inclusive of the race singlet and race bib. /CORRESPONDENT DALE G. ROSAL
