Australian found wounded inside Cebu City condo

CEBU CITY, Philippines — A 75-year-old Australian national was found wounded inside his condo unit in Wood Crest Residence, Barangay Guadalupe on Wednesday morning.

SPO4 Rey Cuyos, homicide investigator, said that the victim, who was identified as John William Townsend, was stabbed on the left leg, right arm and the back.

Townsend, who was confined at the Cebu Doctors hospital for treatment, was said to be in stable condition, Cuyos said.

A footage from the condominium’s CCTV showed Townsend’s 19-year-old girlfriend, Bonesa Dabalos, going inside Townsend’s room past 7 p.m. Tuesday, and then leaving at 5 a.m. Wednesday and riding on the elevator.

Cuyos said that a friend of Dabalos sent a text message to another friend living at the same condominium to have Townsend’s room checked.

The wounded Townsend was discovered by Roland Marquez, safety and security manager of the condominium located in Modesta Street.

Marquez then asked for assistance from the Emergency Rescue Unit Foundation (ERUF) so they could bring the Australian to the hospital, Cuyos said.
