JAKARTA, Indonesia—President Aquino has left Jakarta after attending the 18th Asean Summit with his fellow Asean leaders over the weekend.
Mr. Aquino was originally scheduled to leave Indonesia at 7 p.m. on Sunday but inclement weather brought by tropical storm ‘Bebeng’ prompted his pilot and the weather bureau Pagasa to advice against flying into the Philippines that night.
President Aquino left an Indonesian military airbase at 7:15 a.m. (8:15 a.m. Manila time). He is expected to arrive at 12:15 p.m. in Manila.
On the chartered flight with President Aquino are House Speaker Sonny Belmonte, Foreign Affairs Secretary Albert Del Rosario, Trade Secretary Gregory Domingo, Energy Secretary Jose Rene Almendras, and Presidential Communications Development Secretary Ricky Carandang.
Mr. Aquino left Indonesia after spending the weekend attending the Association of Southeast Asian Nations Summit.
In one of the joint statements of the Asean leaders, they agreed to intensify and coordinate efforts against the illegal trafficking of persons, an initiative that President Aquino pushed during his participation in the meeting.
