THE Metropolitan Cebu Water District (MCWD) continues to partner with the private sector in its watershed development program.
Phoenix Phils. Inc. will give P30,000 to the water district every year for five years to cover the tree growing activities in a five-hectare lot in Cebu’s watershed area at barangay Buot-Taop.
The Department of Environment and Natural Resoures has identified 1,000 hectares as watershed area, of which 300 hectares will be developed by MCWD.
Lawyer Raymond Zorilla, vice president of Phoenix Phils. Foundation Inc., said the agreement with MCWD is first in the Visayas. He added that they help in tree growing activities to take care of the country’s water resources.
He said the P150,000 is just their initial help to MCWD and more donations may come in the future.
Ernie Delco, MCWD Assistant General Manager for Operations, expressed his gratitude to Phoenix Phils. and assured that the amount will be put to good use.
