Pakistan train hits rickshaw, kills six children

KARACHI, Pakistan—Pakistani police say a passenger train has hit a rickshaw carrying children on their way school, killing six children and the driver.

Senior police officer Wasi Haider says the accident occurred near Balu Lashari village in southern Sindh province. The rickshaw driver attempted to traverse an unmanned railway crossing without seeing an oncoming train. He said the rickshaw got stuck on the tracks, and the speeding train crashed into it.

Haider says five other injured students were rushed to the hospital in serious condition.

Aside from the driver, the victims were between five and 15 years-old, he added.
