MANILA, Philippines–The Government of Japan is sending a disaster relief expert team to the areas affected by Supertyphoon ‘‘Yolanda’’, a statement from the Embassy of Japan said Monday.
The team will arrive in the Philippines on Tuesday, November 26, the statement said.
The team, which consists of experts in the field of rehabilitation of devastated areas, will conduct activities in the Yolanda-affected and other areas.
In addition to the dispatch of the disaster relief team and members of Japan’s Self-Defense Force Units, Japan has decided to provide the following in relief assistance to Yolanda survivors:
1. Emergency Grant Aid : $30 million
2. Emergency Relief Goods : approximately $600,000
3. Assistance through Japanese NGOs (JPF) : $1.5 million
4. Japan Fund for Poverty Reduction (JFPR) of Asian Development Bank (ADB) : $20 million
5. Asean Plus Three Emergency Rice Reserve (APTERR) : $500,000
