MANDAUE FIRE RAZES 2 HOUSES
TWO houses were razed by a fire believed to have been caused by faulty electrical wiring in barangay Ibabao, Mandaue City.
Fire damage was pegged at P100,000, said SF01 Nilo Cosido of the Mandaue City Fire Department.
Cosido said the fire started in the house of 84-year-old Flora Barte at 9:30 a.m. yesterday.
The woman’s neighbor, Rex Mañago, told investigators he saw smoke billowing from the house’s ceiling.
Mañago tried to douse the fire with a pail of water but the flames continued to spread.
Mañago went inside the Barte’s house to help the woman escape from the blazing structure.
Mañao said it took some time before he was able to convince Barte to leave the burning house.
The fire spread to the house of engineer Alvin Ceniza, whose family was hearing Mass when the fire struck.
Firefighters contained the fire in five minutes./REPORTER JUCELL MARIE P. CUYOS
