“We walk for togetherness.”

This was the message of the over 2,000 Lyceum of the Philippines University (LPU) students, faculty members, school officials and family members who joined a walkathon for “Yolanda” victims Sunday morning.

Dubbed “Lakat Kasangkay” (Waray for “Let’s walk, friends”), the event was organized as a fund-raising activity for typhoon survivors.

Clad in red shirts, participants walked for 3 kilometers, starting from the LPU campus to Real Street in Intramuros, Manila.

The school later announced that proceeds from the activity totaled around P400,000, mostly from participants’ registration fees. Maricar B. Brizuela
