ALA-Cobra boxing set tonight
ALA Boxing Gym’s Jimmy “Popeye” Paypa and Jovil “El Pancho” Marayan will exchange punches tonight in the main event of the ALA-Cobra Tunay Na Lakas Boxing Tour in Cagayan de Oro City.
Paypa (14-2, 4KOs) and Marayan (8-14-3, 3KOs) tipped the weighing scales yesterday at 123 pounds and 121 pounds, respectively.
Although Paypa is a pound heavier than the 122lbs weight limit, the fight will still push through since there is no title at stake.
Meanwhile, Roger Echavez (7-10-1, 4 KOs) of Butuan City was also four pounds overweight (116 pounds) for his 112-pound bout against Albert Villacampa (15-6-1, 3KOs) of Bantayan Island, Cebu, who came in at 112.5 pounds. Their fight will also push through since no title is up for grabs.
Amateur standout Vic “Vicious” Saludar (2-0, 2 KOs) of Polomolok, South Cotabato and his opponent Powell Balaba (7-9-1, 4 KOs) of Tagbilaran City, Bohol weighed in at 108 pounds and 109 pounds, respectively.
