Cebu cops off to Bohol for polls

MORE than 1,000 policemen from Cebu will leave for Bohol today to augment the security for Monday’s special barangay elections in the province.

The barangay elections in Bohol was postponed due to the devastation caused by the Oct. 15 magnitude 7.2 earthquake.

The 1,155 policemen came from Cebu City Police Office (CCPO), Cebu Provincial Police Office (CPPO), Mandaue City Police Office, Regional Public Safety Batallion (RPSB) and other police units of the Police Regional Office in Central Visayas.

The team is headed by Chief Supt. Heneroso Cerbo, deputy director for administration of PRO-7. A send-off ceremony was held yesterday. Chief Supt. Danilo Constantino, director of PRO-7, said, the PNP will send more policemen from Camp Crame should the need arises.

Constantino said the policemen will be deployed in areas where there are history of election-related violence./CORRESPONDENT CHITO O. ARAGON
