BATANGAS CITY, Philippines— Julio Cruzat, a former vice mayor of Bauan, Batangas, died Friday afternoon, eight hours after he was shot in the head by an unidentified man on a motorcycle while he drove to work, police said.
Supt. Renato Mercado, Bauan police chief, said Cruzat, 72, died in the Intensive Care Unit of the Bauan Doctors Hospital.
Cruzat, who was driving his car when he was shot at 8:30 a.m., was vice mayor of Bauan from 1991 to 2000. At the time of his death, Cruzat was working for Bauan Mayor Ryanh Dolor.
An investigation was continuing, Mercado said.
