Cabajar-Yamane duo wins Island Tee Golf Class A title

JUNJUN Cabajar and Yoshio Yamane won the Class A Division of the 13th Island Tee Golf tournament, the annual signature golf event of Mactan Island Golf Club (MIGC) played last Nov. 14 to 17 at the MIGC in Lapulapu City.

The pair fired 81 points on the first day and added 82 points on the second for a 163 aggregate to clinch the title in the four-day, two days to play, golf tournament which uses the modified Stableford scoring system.

Chandran Rama and Vic Arnuco finished second with 159 total (79-80) while Ahn Woo Chul and Charles Gaite finished third with their 147 output (73-74).

It was a double victory for Cabajar as he also won the individual lowest gross overall title.

Regino Sanchez and Rey Dira ruled Class B with a 156 aggregate while the pair of Lt. Col. Julieto Estoque and Maj. Michael Nuñez placed second with their 150 total. Third place went to Leo Quimco and Roy Damole with a 147 total in this member-guest team play event.

A 73 on the first day and an 83 on the second gave Rod Wycoco and Nilo Gozo an aggreagate of 156 points to win Class C. They are trailed by Jesus Palma and Albert Golez (148) and the Yap team of Daniel and Pablo (147).

Noel Abad and Choi Ramos topped the Seniors Division with 147 points followed by Atty. Elias Espinosa and Bobby Barria (136) who won via countback over third placers Justice Abarrientos and David Villono.

The overall team title went to Romeo Aguilon and Rogelio del Prado Jr. with their 166 aggregate.

Aguilon also won the overall individual highest point award with his two-day total of 88 points. Overall team title for lowest gross went to Danny Aguas and Juan Carlos Torre with their 312 output. Torre also received a special award for his eagle in hole #5.

Special individual awards went to Evans Tumaliwan for the Most Accurate Drive leaving only a foot from the hole in hole #17, Enrico Solon for Nearest to the Pin with 5 inches from the hole in hole#15, and Guilbert Portia for his 32 feet putt for the longest putt on the 18th. The longest drive award went Paolo Alberto with his 270 yards drive.

According to Maj. Gen. Romeo V. Poquiz, MIGC chairman and 2nd Air Division Commander of the Philippine Air Force, part of this year’s Island Tee golf tournament proceeds will be donated to the earthquake victims in Bohol.
