Cop flunks drug test

THE policeman who was arrested for indiscriminate firing found himself in deeper trouble after he tested positive for illegal drug use.

The result of the drug test on PO3 Ruben Perater is still subject for confirmatory test, said Chief Insp. Romeo Santander, chief of the intelligence branch of the Cebu City Police Office.

Santander said the PNP Crime Laboratory also confirmed that the contents of four packs seized from Perater’s possession were shabu.

Santander said since the shabu weighed to 18.15 grams, Perater cannot post post bail.

Santander added they are still waiting for the paraffin test result to determine if the policeman had just fired a gun before he was arrested.

Perater, an operative of the Waterfront Police Station, was arrested Sunday for allegedly firing a gun Sunday dawn in barangay Calamba, Cebu City.

Seized from the house of Perater were an unlicensed M16 armalite rifle, a .9mm pistol magazine, ammunition and four packs of suspected shabu worth P100,000.

Perater’s companions, Med John Bernabe and Luis Gerona, were also arrested for allegedly possessing .45 caliber pistols./CORRESPONDENT CHITO O. ARAGON
