2 cops sued over missing guns

/ 02:47 AM November 19, 2013

Malversation charges have been filed against two policemen in court after they failed to return their service firearms to the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) following their reassignment to other areas.

SPO1 Manolo Magtibay was told to return his Remington .45-cal. pistol when he was transferred out of the QCPD but he failed to comply until he was arrested for another case by the National Bureau of Investigation.

He told the QCPD that the gun was seized by the NBI but this reasoning was rejected by the QC assistant prosecutor.

The other policeman, a certain Torrente, on the other hand, did not return his .45-cal. Colt pistol and has yet to submit his counter-affidavit.—Julie M. Aurelio
