MAN DROWNS OFF LAPU BEACH

A 23-YEAR-OLD man drowned while swimming with a friend in a beach in barangay Marigondon, Lapu-Lapu City early morning last Thursday.

Mart Rey Carabuena, a resident of barangay Basak, Lapu-Lapu, may have suffered leg cramps while swimming, causing him to drown, said police.

Police said Carabuena and a certain Wendell jogged around 6 a.m. They decided to go to a beach whose caretaker, Serapio Gulpan, was Carabuena’s friend.

Wendell told police that while they were swimming, Carabuena disappeared.

Wendell sought help from Gulpan in locating  Carabuena, who was later found submerged in the water.

UNIDENTIFIED thieves broke into a house owned by a policeman in barangay Mactan, Lapu-Lapu City.

SPO1 Arnold Bucayong said items taken from his house were a gold necklace worth P47,000, a gold bracelet worth P12,000, a Mason ring worth P26,000, electric hand drill worth P5,000 and bullets for a .45 pistol worth P35,000.

Bucayong told investigators that he went to a mechanic on Friday afternoon to have his car checked.

Bucayong said things inside his house were already in disarray when he returned home.

Since there were no signs of forced entry, it was possible that Bucayong forgot to lock the door of his house when he left, said police ./CORRESPONDENT NORMAN V. MENDOZA

TEEN NABBED FOR DRUG CHARGES

A TEENAGER with a pending warrant of arrest for drug charges was arrested by police in barangay Guizo, Mandaue City.

Police cornered Jorlan Soco alias Tata Soco near his home last Friday afternoon.

Police said Soco had been the subject of several buy-bust operations but managed to elude arrest.

Regional Trial Court Judge Teresita Abarquez Galanida, Presiding Judge of Branch 56 issued on August 15 a warrant for Soco’s arrest.

Soco is facing charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 known as the Dangerous Drugs Act./CORRESPONDENT NORMAN V. MENDOZA

MAN FALLS IN DRUG BUY-BUST

A MAN was arrested in a drug buy-bust operation at pier area in Cebu City last Friday night.

Carlito Virtucio was arrested by members of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in Central Visayas after he allegedly sold a pack of suspected shabu worth P500 to a poseur buyer.
