‘Alay Lakad’ set today in Manila; traffic rerouted on several roads

Motorists are advised to use alternate routes if they are going to areas around or near the Luneta today.

The Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) has announced that several areas in Manila will be closed today to give way to participants of “Alay Lakad Para sa Kabataan.”

Some 500,000 to 800,000 people are expected to attend the event, the MMDA said, citing information provided by the Manila District Traffic Enforcement Unit (MDTEU).

At exactly 4 a.m., the following roads will be closed:

North and southbound lane of Roxas Boulevard, from Anda Circle to President Quirino.

P. Burgos from Roxas Blvd. to Lagusnilad east and westbound.

T.M. Kalaw from Roxas Boulevard to Taft Avenue east and westbound, and

Ayala corner Finance Road.

Motorists may take the following alternate routes:

All vehicles coming from southern part of Manila intending to use Roxas Boulevard northbound lane shall turn right P. Ocampo or Pres. Quirino, left Taft Avenue to point of destination.

All public utility vehicles traveling along A. Mabini Street shall turn right P. Gil or may either go straight and turn right to UN Avenue, left Taft Avenue to point of destination

All vehicles coming from northern part of Manila intending to use Roxas Blvd southbound lane coming from Delpan Bridge-Pier Zone shall take A. Soriano, go straight Magallanes Drive, right P. Burgos straight to Lagusnilad to point of destination.

All vehicles coming from three bridges—MacArthur, Jones, and Quezon—intending to utilize the southbound lane of Roxas Boulevard from P. Burgos shall go straight Lagusnilad to point of destination.

All vehicles coming from the three bridges intending to proceed to Intramuros area shall turn right to Victoria Street to point of destination.

All cargo trucks travelling Osmena Highway, turn right Pres. Quirino Avenue, straight ahead to Nagtahan, AH Lacson, Yuseco Street, crossing Jose Abad Santos straight Raxabago to destination.

All cargo trucks, trailers, vans and other heavy duty vehicles coming from Road 10 intending to cross Delpan bridge shall be diverted to Capulong to point of destination. Tina G. Santos
