The SM Foundation has activated its Operation Tulong Express in areas badly hit by super typhoon Yolanda.
A total of 50,000 relief packs were distributed to the different municipalities and provinces in the Visayas region. These areas include Cebu City and Cebu province, Panay Island, Tacloban City, Ormoc, Samar, and Bacolod City.
Last Nov. 11, the SM Foundation went to the towns of San Remegio, Medellin, and Daanbantayan in northern Cebu and distributed relief packs to 3,000 families.
SM City Cebu also distributed 10,000 cans of sardines to Cebu City and Cebu province residents through the Department of Social Welfare and Development immediately after super typhoon Yolanda exited Cebu in the afternoon of Nov. 8.
SM City Cebu and SM City Consolacion also opened its doors to the more than 700 families who evacuated their homes before the super typhoon Yolanda made landfall in Cebu at 10 a.m. on Nov. 8.
SM Foundation accepts donations in all SM Supermalls nationwide.
The donation booths are located at the lower ground floor near Country Crafts in SM City Cebu, and at the first level of SM City Consolacion (near Bo’s Coffee).
Shoppers are encouraged to donate food, water, medicines, used tarpaulins or cash.
