MANILA, Philippines – AirAsia Zest and Tune Hotel have launched a donation-relief drive for the victims of monster typhoon “Yolanda” (international name Haiyan) by offering free airlift of goods and transport, as well as free hotel accommodations for accredited rescue, humanitarian and medical workers.
The campaign dubbed “To Philippines With Love” officially started on Tuesday.
“We are deeply saddened to see the devastation left behind by super typhoon Yolanda in the Philippines. To show our support, we will be accepting donations in kind to be flown to the affected areas for free,” AirAsia Zest said in a statement.
“Accredited NGOs (non-government organizations) and volunteers will also be provided with free flights in light of the situation,” it said.
Donations, the airline said, will be accepted at AirAsia Zest cargo office in Manila and will soon be extended to all AirAsia and AirAsia X regional network in Asean countries, including China and Australia.
“AirAsia Zest is freeing up cargo space on its domestic and international flights for delivery of relief goods. For those who are keen to help, including non-governmental organizations (NGOs), civic groups, aid and humanitarian agencies as well as members of the public, please send in your requests to paa_cargo@airasia.com,” it said.
Instructions on delivery and cargo requirements, it said, will be provided after evaluation of the request.
For additional information, AirAsia Zest advised the public to call +632-851-1801 or 851-1803.
AirAsia Zest has been operating humanitarian flights to Cebu and Kalibo since November 9, carrying uniformed policemen, relief goods, medical and rescue workers in coordination with various government agencies, local and international aid organizations and NGOs.
Tune Hotels said it will also be extending complimentary hotel accommodations to accredited aid workers and individuals.
“Requests will be handled centrally via the AirAsia Zest operation center,” the budget hotel said in the same statement.
At present, Tune Hotels has six hotels in the Philippines including three in Metro Manila – Quezon City, Makati and Ermita; Angeles, Pampanga, Cagayan de Oro, Mindanao and Cebu City.
