Red Cross run moved to Nov. 24

/ 06:35 AM November 09, 2013

THE RED Cross 143 Lapu-Lapu Marathon for Humanity originally scheduled tomorrow will be moved to Nov. 24.

Organizers decided to reschedule the running event since volunteers and personnel of the Philippine Red Cross Lapu-Lapu-Cordova chapter are still busy assisting victims of supertyphoon “Yolanda,” which passed through the Visayan region yesterday.

The announcement of the postponement was made by race committee chairman director Teodulo Ybanez.

The rescheduling of the running event is also because of the coming Low Pressure Area (LPA) that will enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility on Nov. 10 to 12.

The members of the Red Cross chapter of Lapu-Lapu and Cordova are in force and are now reaching out to typhoon victims in their area.

The race will start at the Hoops Dome of Lapu-Lapu City at midnight with 1,299 runners expected to show up.

PRC Lapu-Lapu/Cordova administrator Vicjay Gonzal said 197 long-distance runners have already registered for the 42-kilometer full marathon./CORRESPONDENT DALE G. ROSAL
