Norfil seeks parents of abandoned child

NORFIL Foundation Inc., a social welfare agency in Lapu-Lapu City, is calling the attention of the parents and relatives of the abandoned minors who are under its care.

Natasha M. Lapon, born on June 21, 2013 at Brotherhood Health Center in barangay Basak San Nicolas, Cebu City to Isabelo O. Lapon Jr. and Maria V. Monteclar, both from Villa Kalubihan, Basak San Nicolas, Cebu City was left by her mother to a banana cue vendor in Villa Kalubihan last Aug. 27 at 6 p.m.

The vendor brought the child to Rosa O. Lapon, the paternal grandmother, who lives in the same barangay, on the same day.

However, on Aug. 28, Rosa asked for assistance from their barangay for the child’s custody citing incapability to take care of the child due to financial and health reasons.

The child is now under the custody of Norfil Foundation Inc., which is located at the Airbase Road in sitio Sangi, barangay Pajo, Lapu-Lapu City.

The foundation is requesting the parents or relatives of Natasha to visit the Norfil Foundation if they are still interested to take back the child or contact social workers Angelina Dungog or Sheryl Gacita and Griffith Egbus at 3401170 or 3405722 from Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Failure of the parties to appear within three months will subject the child for legal abandonment proceedings through the Department of Social Welfare and Development.
