453 domestic, international flights cancelled

MANILA, Philippines—A total of 445 domestic flights and eight international flights have been cancelled as of 12 p.m. due to Typhoon Yolanda (international name: Haiyan), the Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC) said Friday.

These flights include all Philippine Airlines (PAL) and PALex flights to and from Tacloban, Calbayog, Catarman, Cebu, Tagbilaran, Dumaguete, Bacolod, Iloilo, Roxas, Kalibo, Caticlan, Masbate, Legaspi, Naga, Puerto Princesa, Busuanga, Butuan, Surigao, Cagayan De Oro, Ozamiz, Dipolog, Davao, General Santos, Zamboanga, Sanga-Sanga and Jolo.

PAL and PALex flights to and from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, Singapore and Japan were also cancelled.

Cebu Pacific cancelled its flights to and from the following : Cebu, Bacolod, Manila, Iloilo, Cagayan De Oro, Clark to Cebu, Dumaguete, Dipolog, Davao, General Santos, Siargao, Kalibo, Aklan, Legazpi, Caticlan, Ozamiz, Pagadian, Puerto Princesa, Roxas, Surigao, Tacloban, Tagbilaran, Virac, Naga, Zamboanga, Busuanga, and San Jose.

Also cancelled are international flights for the following destinations: Cebu-Hongkong; Cebu-Incheon-Cebu; Cebu-Singapore-Cebu and Iloilo-Singapore-Cebu.

As of 12:36 p.m., the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) reported that 10 airports were closed due to the typhoon.
