WOMAN STABBED OVER JEALOUSY

A 57-YEAR-OLD man stabbed and wounded his live-in partner following an argument at home in barangay Maguikay, Mandaue City on Thursday afternoon.

Police said jealousy may have driven Julian Pino to stab Miraflor Gabatan, 41.

The woman, who was wounded in the shoulder, was rushed to the Mandaue District Hospital.

Police arrested Pino two hours later.

The domestic violence took place after Pino confronted his partner, whom he saw talking to another man.

Pino will be charged for serious physical injuries, said police. REPORTER JUCELL MARIE P. CUYOS

TANOD HURT IN LAPU ROAD MISHAP

A 31-YEAR-OLD barangay tanod was critically wounded after his motorcycle collided with a tricycle in barangay Basak, Lapu-Lapu City Thursday night.

Police said Peter Tero’s motorcycle encroached the opposite lane and hit the other vehicle.

Tero, a tanod in the barangay, was thrown several meters from the point of impact.

He was brought to Mactan Doctors’ Hospital then moved to the Don Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center in Cebu City.

Police said the driver of the tricycle, Alex Manching, 36, was not arrested after a traffic investigation showed that Tero was at fault.

PO1 Micheal Copias said a .357 magnum revolver was found in the utility box of Tero’s motorcycle.

Police will check whether the weapon was licensed and whether Tero was authorized to carry a firearm. CORRESPONDENT NORMAN V. MENDOZA

POLICE HUNT SHOPLIFTERS

MANDAUE police are on the trail of seven persons who were caught by security cameras shoplifting at a computer store in barangay Subangdaku, Mandaue City last week

Police said the four men and three women were recorded on video stealing computer processors and printer ink at FastWin Computer Store last August 24.

One of the women was seen talking to the store’s security guard while her cohorts took several items.

Chief Insp.Rex Lomente, chief of the Investigative and Detective Management Bureau, urged theft victims to visit the police to view the video in order to identify perpetrators in other theft incidents.  CORRESPONDENT NORMAN V. MENDOZA
