Boy struck by lightning dies; mother rushed to hospital

ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines — A two-year-old boy was killed while his mother was hurt when struck by lightning in the village of Lanzones here on Thursday afternoon.

Chief Inspector Ariel Huesca, spokesperson of the Regional Police Office, said Angelyn Francisco, 22 and her son, two-year-old Reggie, were walking on their way home when they were hit by a lightning at around 3 p.m.

The mother and son were brought to the Sanitarium Hospital where Reggie was declared “dead on arrival.” Angelyn was later transferred to the Zamboanga City Medical Center, Huesca said.
