THE surprising Jumbo Plastic Linoleum Giants gun for a share of the lead when they battle the tough Big Chill Superchargers today, in the PBA D-League Aspirants Cup at the Arena in San Juan City.
The Giants won their second game in a row earlier this week after they eked past the Café France Bakers, 74-70, thanks to former Gilas member Jason Ballesteros who scored five of the team’s last seven points that averted a fourth period collapse.
Today’s match-up will also see an interesting battle between two products of the University of Cebu’s basketball program in forward Jan Colina and bulky point guard, Brian Heruela.
Colina has been an anchor for the Giants, averaging 14 points in their first two outings while Heruela, now getting plenty of minutes with the departure of former star Terrence Romeo, debuted with six points, six rebounds, 10 assists, three steals and three blocks in their, 92-91 win over BDO-National University.
In the first game, the defending champions Blackwater Sports seek another win when they go up against newcomers, Wang’s Basketball. /Correspondent Jonas Panerio
