UC-METC holds speech fest for maritime students

THE University of Cebu–Maritime Education and Training Center, through its General Education Department, recently held its first-ever speech festival at the campus amphitheater.

The activity, with the theme “Sustaining Seafarers’ Speech Success,” sought to improve the communication skills of the maritime students. The culminating activity for all English classes under Gianne Rensen Antonio gathered students to participate in the storytelling, monologue, extemporaneous speaking, speech choir and chorale singing contests.

Dr. Rouel Longinos, in his keynote address, emphasized the need for maritime students to be proficient in oral communication to be able to meet international standards.
