MANILA, Philippines – The Philippine National Police (PNP) said Tuesday security was in place for Janet Lim-Napoles’ transfer from her detention cell in Fort Sto. Domingo in Laguna to the Senate in Pasay City on Thursday when she faces the investigation into the P10 billion pork barrel scam which she allegedly masterminded.
Police Senior Superintendent Reuben Theodore Sindac, PNP-Public Information Office chief, said police units involved in this operation have met with their counterparts in the Senare to lay out specifics in the transfer.
Sindac said roughly 100 police officers from PNP-Special Action Force, Police Regional Office 4A, National Capital Region Police Office, and Highway Patrol Group, are set to be deployed for Napoles’ security on Thursday, but added that the PNP has received a request for additional men.
“The threat is imminent and it is apparent also because of the, first situation as well as, yung environment . . . So maybe it is also reasonable that they might require more measures aside from personnel,” Sindac said.
Sindac, however, refused to reveal Napoles’ time of departure from Laguna and arrival at the Senate office for a scheduled appearance in relation to the P10 billion pork barrel scam which she allegedly masterminded.
