MANILA, Philippines – While vowing to hold responsible those behind the defacing of several government websites, Secretary Herminio “Sonny” Coloma on Monday urged hacker group Anonymous Philippines to instead resort to legal means, Radyo Inquirer 990AM reported.
The Presidential Communications Operations Office head said the hackers should express their opinions through legal avenues instead of violating the law by hacking or defacing government websites.
He likewise said that those responsible for the cyber attacks will be held accountable for their actions.
At least 38 government websites, including that of the Office of the Ombudsman, were defaced on Sunday by Anonymous PH.
The group hacked the websites to protest the misuse of public funds and to urge the public to join the so-called Million Mask March on November 5 at the House of Representatives in Quezon City.
