MANILA, Philippines — One was injured and millions worth of properties went up in smoke after a fire gutted a shanty community in Quezon City Monday afternoon.
Senior Fire Officer 3 Mauricio Jose of Quezon City Fire Department said Nelma Dagolpo sustained a laceration to her waist after fire blazed through roughly 100 houses along Balud Street, Congressional Avenue Extension, Barangay (village) Culiat in Quezon City at 1:54 pm.

The fire alarm reached Task Force Bravo before it was completely put out at around 3:15 p.m., leaving about 200 families homeless.
