The DOH planned the project three years ago and it was only this year that it was approved, said Gallos.

Argao has to bid out the project on or before December, otherwise, the money will revert to DOH.

Gallos plans to build the hospital on a one-hectare lot along the national highway in barangay Bogo, which is four kilometers from the municipal proper./CORRESPONDENT VICTOR ANTHONY V. SILVA

Dad want market vendors spared from daily rent

VENDORS in the Mandaue City public market will get a 46-day reprieve from daily rentals when the City Council approves the ordinance granting the moratorium.

But since the ordinance was passed on first reading last Wednesday, the city will continue to collect daily rentals from the vendors, according to Councilor Jimmy Lumapas, the author of the proposed ordinance.

The ordinance was filed after the 7.2-magnitude earthquake damaged the new public market building. A vendor died and several others were hurt as they were running out of the market during the quake, with debris falling around them.

The proposed period to be covered by the moratorium is October 15 to November. 30.

After the earthquake, vendors were afraid to go back to their stalls. They have built makeshift stalls in the vicinity of the new market after engineers declared the structure as off limits.
